Political Motives of Developers for Collaboration on GNU/Linux

I'm really sorry but obviously it took me some time to put up the results. Honestly, I needed a short break after submission and additionally I lack some proper Internet facilities at the moment. However, there it is:

The final version of the dissertation is available here (The most interesting parts for you might be the conclusion and chapter 4).

Linuxtag 2005

Finally, an update. I presented my findings at the Linuxtag 2005 in Karlsruhe. The slides of my presentation are available here (OO.org format).

I also wrote a paper for the Linuxtag that is a nice summary of the survey. Unfortunately it did not make it to the conference DVD and the website because I there was a problem with the submission... However, it is also available here.

Survey Data

The following data is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial License. It allows every non-commercial use provided proper attribution.

  • A readily coded SPSS file of the data used is available here, as well as a plain text file. Please note that your results will diverge a bit from my findings as in the openly available data file three cases are missing that I used for my research because the respondents did not agree on releasing their data under the terms of the mentioned license.

  • An extended data set including 192 respondents is now available. Get the SPSS file here. There is also a plain text file available.
